illustrator 10 help??

has anybody had any problems change a word that is in outlines all to one color? everytime i change a font to outlines and want to change the color of the text i have to change each letter one by one. anybody help me? is there a setting i need to change?

if you change a piece of tedt to outlines, it is a bunch of seperate shapes, so of course you will have to change them all...they are no longer one piece.

I don't have that problem.
At any rate, all the letters in the word must be grouped together.
Select all the letters > Go to "Object" in the top menu, click "Group"

go to your "appearances" window and see if your stroke is on a layer above the fill. try dragging the fill above the stroke and see where it gets you. if i'm reading your problem correctly, this might help.
