Font design packages

  I need to design a custom font but don't know the best place to start. What are the best packages to use nowadays? Something that i'll pick up on quickly and not cost a packet would be a bonus. Thanks in advance.

  There are only 2 options really: FontLab or Fontographer. Both have some issues.
