has anyone every rode on a hovercraft? i want to so bad, but i dont know where to begin.

I thought the Calais hovercraft is noisy and claustrophobic... the small hydrofoil from Belgium to UK is way cooler... its like a low flying aircraft, banks in turns..

The Calais-Dover hovercrafts were put out of service a year or two ago. Too expensive, apparently.
I got to go on one when i was about 10... fun stuff, but you couldn't see much out of the window as the windows were constantly being sprayed by the seawater...

hmm. so i guess i haven't missed much then.. but it would be cool to see one hitting the beach/ground.. must be quite spectacular..

I was trying to find one of those ads you used to see in the back of comic books... anyone remember those? Plans to build your own hovercraft with a vacuum cleaner? hehee... I used to visualize myself cruising to school on my hovercraft.. it was a lovely dream..
