http://www.creativehotlist.combest wishes finding a job... its TIGHTTTTTTTTT here in SF
- jevad0
thanks you two!
qburt - how tight! See it picking up? I know I will be able to find a job - not worried about that....it's just where and with who...I've heard too many horror stories to just take the first thing I see....you know anything about San Jose by the way? Nice place?
- jox0
wow jevad, I thought you were in the UK? Or are you thinking about moving abroad?
- jevad0
Hey jox!
yeah - live and work in London...but my fiancee works for...erm...a US gvt agency...and basically she needs to move back to the states - we are getting married here in July and probably shipping out there around october I think...denver or SF it looks like...don;t really want to go...but she has been here with me for 2.5 years...so it's my turn to go where she needs to go!
Besides...I think a change of scenery will do me good!
:)
- jox0
that's really cool! (is she an agent? :)
and, congrats on the wedding!

san jose: the world's biggest suburb. the whole silicon valley is vanilla, stay close to SF if you want a more interesting life.
as for nice people... can't say any one place around here is nicer than the other. maybe folks in oakland are meaner, but that's kinda expected for more run-down areas.
as for tight job markets...I could attest to getting a job in SF, in interactive production no less. But I was up against 200 others.

and things are picking up. our firm is paying freelancers a bit more than they used to a few months back...
- jevad0
damn - you won outta 200! sweet!
I dunno - it's still early days I guess...I have time to put the feelers out so to speak at least...can't deny that living in SF would be kick-ass - beach and mountains...oh yeah...
oh and cheers jox! she's not a full agent yet - thats why we need to move there!
- jox0
you're kidding?!! she's with the feds? :D Holy cow, can I please say "A friend's wife is an agent" ?
Oh man, that would bring some attention to me on parties :)
- jevad0
hahahahha - sure you can - you ever see silence of the lambs? well she pretty much does the same thing clarisee starling does...you should see some of the books she has here...pretty disturbing stuff!! But it's cool too - she has such a passion for her job and trying to understand criminals...she actually had a paper published with the FBI NCVAC last summer...although her masters thesis was on counterterrorism and spys - again, pretty cool!
The weird thing will be after she finishes training and has to carry a gun around with her all the time...still...that should be handy for jumping cinema lines!
muwahahahha

there are jobs... but like he said.. you will be going up against every other unemployed designer in SF.... lots of em of course dont have a chance... but there are always a good handful that are good....
pray hard
- jevad0
ah - thanks for the support and kind words qburt!
^_^
- jox0
jevad, you are not going to believe this, but right before I signed on NT this evening, I watched silence of the lambs. coincidence or what :D
- jevad0
hahahah - sweet!
thats pretty freaky actually....
- jox0
so she like, gives people a certain psycological(sp?) profile?
- jevad0
yeah - she's a profiler..well her degree is in criminal psychology and her FBI paper was on sexually aggravated murders of old people, specifically women I think...she thinks most profiling is a bunch of bullshit...most people who try to pass themselves off as 'criminal profilers' are just cowboys who think they know it all...but really, if you know a few basics...it's really easy to profile somebody..and all you are really doing is saying...it's a he/she..they're about this age...they do this job...they probably got beat up by a parent as a kid...socially reclusive etc etc...it's interesting though...
- jox0
wow, that's really cool! psychology is some facinating stuff! So she could profile you based upon your bad mood :) If you come home from work one day all cranky, she'll know exactly why and what happened? :D
wherever you move man, keep us posted!
- jevad0
hahahah - well...I can;t keep anything from her put it that way! jedi mind trick shit!
will do mate - cheers! : )
