say i have a folder set up, with no .html file, just a bunch of files for a client to download from..
is there a way to apply a very simple style sheet to that self-generated "Index of ..." file listing?
thank you

i am not sure if it can be done with just a style sheet but here is a wonderful php tool written by one of our NT residents. http://dev.lophty.com/indexer/ cant remember his name now. sorry.
enobrev ( http://www.newstoday.com/docs/re… ) might be able to help you as well. he has mad skills at php i hear.

i'm tryin to understand you. so you have made a diretory on some server and put a bunch of files in that directory (pdfs, psds, etc, but no htmls). the directory is accessible via a browser and you want to gice it a specific look (eg. trebuchet font instead of the default one).
if this is the case then it can't be done. it can however be tweaked from the server settings but that is completely another story and i'm presuming you don't have the rights for it.

his alias is monokrom
you can adjust the display of the index from within the apache config file...if it is your server.
the reason you get the error is because the server admin doesn't want indexes to show up...some feel it is a security risk, but not much more can be done to a server than can't anyway...turning indexing off doesn't give you that much more security.
allowing "." files to display, now that is bad.

to allow index viewing, put the following in a file called .htaccess
options +indexesto disallow index viewing:
options -indexesbut i wanna make it look MO' PERTY

that made no sense...let's try this:
nothing more can be done to a server with directories on than with off.
