In response to the thread on accessexcess.org, first up, thanks for the feedback :-)
What you do to get the effect - get an op pattern, get some type and put it above the pattern.
The Op art pattern has a 95% fill above a black solid layer. The text is a mask of the exact same pattern, but at 100%. Thats it. I discovered it while experimenting.The message is that fear is sometimes the message in media, that when you see it and hear it non-stop, become submerged in a media blur, you lose the message, but when you stand back a bit, and switch off from the noise, things become clearer. Since 9-11 et al I started feeling that media was nothing more then propaganda rather then information. And I wanted to reflect that idea in a visually disturbing way. So that was the idea behind the site. Access the excess.
