i got an offer for an Art Director from a pretty decent size company in NJ last week... i do currently have a job, but am looking to leave, but this company offered me less than I am making now, with less perks.
I am really interetsed in the job, so I counter offered back. The Preseident of the company called me and said he needed to "ponder" the counter offer and would get back to me.
That was last Monday. Do you think they are trying to get someone else in there for cheaper and are blowing me off? I sent an email, but have gotten no response. It seems pretty unprofessional, and I probably shouldnt take the job anyways even if they do come back should I?
What are your thoughts? Should I call them again, just to be professional about it?

Fuck em.
You want a position that both parties are enthusiastic about. As soon as they start cutting a bit here and a bit there, and then don't return emails, etc..it's not good.
If they were keen then they would get back to you and atleast be open about it.

If the work at the new company is going to be better, and more challenging then you should call and see if they are still interested in you.
Sometimes people get busy and doesn't always have time to respond right away, so hold off for a couple more days and see. But definitely call by Wednesday Morning. As a follow up.

yeah man, people who don't get back to you can stick it! it doesn't take much to either say "yes, job is on" or "no, job is off"
i hate em too!

I've been though somewhat similar situations before.
Give them a deadline to let you know. If they don't meet your deadline then they suck!
It also does show how tight they are with their money which means they'll watch every hour you spend on a project and every hour you're not productive.

the job will definately be more challenging and more variety of projects as well. The seemed so interetsed and actually came after me pretty hard about the position, but as soon as I counter offered, it got silent. I will follow up with them tomorrow, nut I know they were in sort oif a rush to fill the position and now who knows...

if they were in a rush to fill the position maybe you should call them today.
Was your counter offer a lot more then what they were willing to give you?
Well, good luck, and keep us posted.

Think about it...if it was any other deal other than a job offer..you would be worried.
Yes the work could be more challenging , whatever....what you cant dfeny is that you are susoicious....suspicious that they are tight cunts who can't shell out the cash..and you are thinking to yourself, if they are a bitch here, then they are going to be a bitch on other things too.
And regardless of how new and fresh the work is...the job is now a right royal pain in the arse
