how does every body keep track of jobs?? we are getting extremeley busy and we need to devise a system to keep track of things before they spiral out of control. anybody know of any good software solutions or any ideas for just keeping jobs under control.
cheers

hire a project manager who knows what he/she is doing...
after that, install not only project management software but some form of cvs (concurrent versioning system) like FreeVCS or CVS if you're server inclined...
you can keep track of versions of releases and projects...etc...very handy if you do a lot of development work.

i made up a spreadsheet on excel and listed all the jobs I had on that day, urgent at the top in order. I noted the status, deadlines etc...and I updated it every morning printed it out and scribbled any notes and then updated it mid-afternoon and again printed it out and scribbled notes down as the day went on. it worked pretty well for me.

MS Excel mostly
every job i do has a number that goes with it. i keep all my projects together and they are named like this:
worknumber-client_description.ex...
so what i am workin on now is this:
70134-st.dominic_monument.psd
and then i keep track of it in excel. but i know a lot of folks have more sophisticated methods. mine are cheap but easy for me... so i dont lose track of shit.
i color everything depending on the job status. red means it is due, green means it is done, yellow means the deadline is approaching... and the WIND BEGAN TO HOWL!oh... sorry. not enought sleep last night. =)

cheers guys
cvs and vcs seem incredibly complex. anybody used ACT 6. a colleague just spoke to a guy who reckons that would do the job and also tie in with outlook, which we all use daily to keep track of basic task and reminders. which would also help bearing in mind we have 4 macs & 1pc on a pc server.
thanks again
