needs to be a cmyk breakdown so I can add this 'fade' to a photo in PS.

rasko i have a metallic swatches doc in illustrator format if oyu would like it. just convert the pantone swatches to cmyk and you'll have a good starting point for the metallic representation. want it?

testpilot and scnc thanks - thats perfect! what I'll do is let the client get a wet proof of that and the breakdowns that scnc gave with a few variations and they can choose which they prefer - then they cant blame me if they dont like the result!

cool man, whats the job anyway? :)

ahh boring I'm afraid - y'know those collars that go around the necks of wine bottles for promos - its one of those. They're printing a million so I CANT get the colour wrong - ouch!

rasko,
you're asking for trouble man. We just fought a losing battle with what you're trying to do. Ended up mixing inks, because NOTHING looked acceptable in cmyk.
But maybe you're working with a different kind of stock that won't absorb the yellow and turn the gold into poo brown.
- Duane0
get ink draw downs on the stock you are using from the printer for approval. that's usually what i do for sign-off on metallic ink choices.
- Gorbie0
You can't get a good screen using metallics though.

its a cmyk representation of a 'gold' I need - no specials unfortunately :(
