PayPal is super accepted today, so you might be in luck

you can create shop carts that use paypal- though via your interface/site.
ie- the user isn't sent to the annoying paypal site.

FREE PHP/mySQL shopping cart. Really easy to cutomize if you have a simple understanding of PHP and mySQL also is already to work with PayPal.FREE if you keep some credits in a couple places, or $60.00 if you want to buy a license and not include the credits.

Probably the best open source SCart out there. I've set up about 6 for various small clients, and I almost never get complaints.
TONS of funtionality, easy setup, etc, etc..

and to quamb, or anyone for htat matter.. although there's a lot of functionality paypal offers to handle quite a bit on the backend, the actaul payment is always done on their site.
Primary reason is that they get new signups instantly and (probably) can more easily ensure the security of their own system.
So DEFINITELY look into the IPN for working with your system, especially for subscribtion based stuff, but you'll still have t osend them to paypal for actual payments.
And Iif I'm wrong, please say so, as I would be pretty interested.

If you search for "shopping" in PV-AN, you'll get plenty of threads about shopping cart software.
I've heard alot of good things about OSCommerce too. I think I'll use that on my next online shop project.
