I hade an 86 scirocco. Man I loved that car. Traded it in for a 98 Jetta Wolfsburg.
Should have kept it. Oh well.

Yeah Sciroccos rule, especially now, can pick up a decent one for under a grand. Am seriously thinking of getting one for the summer and binning it at the end :-)

Yeah. It's a hybrid gas/electric. It runs off both.
Usually driving in the city it works off the electric motor/battery. When I accelerate quickly, the gas engine kicks on. When I cruise on the freeway, the gas runs the car mostly.
When I brake, the friction from the rotors recharges the battery. The gas motor will also charge the battery while I cruise.
So I never recharge it and I fill it with 10 gallons every 500 miles I go. Sorry, no metric conversion, though it does display that on, the on board computer. Which is also pretty cool. It's got a touch screen monitor.

It's nice that Ford actually developed a hybird. They have some serious repenting to do.
Toyota reported it loses almost $5,000 on each hybrid they make, due to the extremely high development costs. But they also said it is worth it.

the new prius looks nice. kind of dig the honda civic hybrid too. like the rally style shifter. i'll stick with AWD though.
