http://www.realityhacking.com/that stuff is fascinating!
it does also remind me a bit of the space invaders global project...
is this a new direction in art?
or does it sound too pretentious by saying that?

well that reminds me of artists like Robert Smithson and Chisto Javacheff who did envirommental art.

a lot of money involved, which allows them to have no obstacles when it comes to transform the concepts and ideas in what they do.

I think they used to call it "earthwork" art

paulrand is right. It's not new, but its not bad.

Puttin the art in e'art'h

love it!!! this is the kind of stuff that keeps me inspired. And forget the hacking.. how about just 'reality'. Like when you see things that look like they were set up, but weren't, ...when all cosmic forces come together and everything you see becomes "art". I believe that's how photographers see the world. I do anyhow.

almost any random expression of nature seems more beautiful than the most considered art

maybe its just me but I'm not to crazy about that project. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate it. It is a great concept and use of waste from another project, but its no competition to the scenery. Those mountains and that lake are amazing. To me it just looks like a drainpipe in the middle of a beautiful landscape.
I really like some of their proposed projects though.

Land reclamation labelled art?
What next?Scientific navel gazing?

Have a look through the projects realized section.
There are many very creative projects in there.
The "atoll" one is just a large scale project. I don't think it is half as interesting as some of the others.

Didn't see those others. Crappy, ambiguous nav.
Some nice stuff.
Perceptual Vandalism.

Robert Irwin- subtle alterations that point to what you've been missing around you
