Christ, you chaps sure like writting lists!
I rekon smooth jazz is just an evolution of fusion. I mean, Kenny G's stuff isn't a million miles away from Tom Scott or some of Billy Cobham's stuff or Dave Sanborn or the Brecker Brothers. It's only because he's well known is why he get's loads of stick. And the style is out of fashion.
Those who like modern Be-Bop. You might like some stuff by a drummer called Carl Allen, pianist Benny Green and a tenor player called Lew Tabackin (not together). Also you can now get Charile Ventura's 1940's-1950's recordings on a box set. Hmm, how interesting.

If you want to get into Latin Jazz, it's a bit of a mine field. There's a lot of styles. In my opinion the best stuff's afro Cuban. Snowboy's band is probably the best in the world at the moment. Go and by Nu Yorica Roots, it's got all the big names on it and is very accessible

I actually don't mind this kind of sax. But the pre war stuff mainly. Beside the dude's got my last name.

wow. i had miles letting off in the headphones and much gas when all four teeth were yanked. listening to kenny is worse than having all teeth extracted.
