Hi people,
I just finished a site:
It's for an artist (painter). Althoough I won't be able to change anything now, I would still like to know your thoughts on it.
Also if there are any bugs, please let me know. It should work ok in any platform, but the gallery menus work smoother when viewed on a pc ('cuz of the lame flash player for mac).
Be gentle, but sincere...

wow, your flash and your art work are very impressive. i love your menu too.
my comments would be the choice of color. black bg colors are so dated and hard on the eyes. the text color is a bit blah too. i like the simplicity of it, but it might be a little too simple. i'll let you decide on that.
maybe go for earth toned or pastel colors since you have religous related material in there. (dont take offense to the word "religous". i know thats a touchy subject with some people...but i couldnt think of another word to describe the angels)

Hmm...
thanks for the comments. I had something much more colorful planned, but the client insisted on black...
As far as the simiplicity of it, you may be right. I dunno... I didn't want to get in the way of the work displayed, but maybe I over did it...
Thanks for the comments I appreciate them. Keep 'em coming please!

Oh... and I don't take offense at the word "religious" in case you don't remember, you and I were swapping jewish/catholic jokes here a while back...

it crashed my browser, mac OS9 IE 5.2

pipertoyboy...
I'm sorry. That's odd, because that's my setup exactly.
Well, I have IE 5.0, not 5.2, but I don't think that's an issue...
Do you have the latest flash plug-in? (6). Could you try it again pleeeze...? Let me know if it crashes your browser again...

Great motion in that site. Dig the menu and the masking.
I did a web site for Mary Grande Pre a while back (Harry Potter Book Illustrator). It was hard to work with a fine arts person on a design project. It took forever to finalize anything and she went with some else eventually.
I had to many opinions I guess...
Did you have any problems working with an "artist"?
- chilaquil0
... Of course I did... anyone who works in a creative field, thinks he/she is the authority (including web designers...).
She felt authoritative enough to pick colors and even gave me a hard time trying to pick fonts.
I felt I had to be very flexible, but when it came to the usability and the actual design issues that a fine artist isn't trained to address, that's where I put my foot down...
It helped that whenever she gave me a bad idea she wanted to implement I said it was "technically impossible" or "very difficult" which wasn't always true, but she would never know.
Shit, I hope she's not reading this...

Yeah I totally understand.
I do remember it was nice because I had her design icons and such for buttons which took a load off for me.
I guess in a way it was easier working "with" somone on their site. I'm used to working "for" someone and having to provide everything from start to finish.
So maybe it wasn't all that bad : )

ok it worked for me, maybe I'm having a bad computer day.
anyway, I really like your nav and the mask effect. it's a nice little site. It's simple and shows the work well. not sure if the button sounds match her type of work.
good job

The nav on site doesn't always load. I had to refresh the site before it worked. Opened a new browser and again the nav didn't load but worked when refreshed.
