damn nothing - it's about time they hit that road....looking forward to it....

you can damn him, but he is the richest and actually the most powerful being on Earth. Uhhh Bill, can I have a loaner. You will probably eclipse the first Trillionaire status before you are 60.
- kpl0
richest, sure.
most powerful? more than bush? nope. if he is so powerful, why can't he make a hacker-proof version of windows?
- unknown0
So what is he is the richest guy on earth.. pc's still suck, every single pc user that I met, tells you the same thing, "well, (insert previous opearting system) used to suck, but (insert current OS) is much more stable"
Am I wrong? how many times did you heard that?
Now ask a mac user what he thinks of his computer, he wont say, yeah its fine, he would say I love it.Ronald mc donald is probably a millionare too.. but does that say he makes the best burgers?
- JazX0
ok, you might be right about that, the power thing. But, I don't think he fully pushes the extent of what his power could be. Money talks and shit walks, sad but true. He could buy out entire countries if he wanted to. PC's are too hackable. Windows XP I had before he even let it lose on the street.

there's been lots of talk on http://arstechnica.infopop.net about the upcoming version of windows and it's new filesystem structure.. apparently what some are thinking is that app's and files (YOUR personal files) will be kept in a database that you subscribe to.. somewhat like .Mac doing now, but with EVERYTHING there.. essentially you use a dummy terminal and "rent" apps from a subscription server and also store your files there, all to be retrieved over your network...
my opinion: BAAAD idea... personal privacy invasion, monopolistic control over your apps, etc... Longhorn already has a new filesystem that is based on a database that references back to a main server for MD5 checks.
SCArrryyy...

who cares about the operating system, we use software.
- jpea0
for my exact reasons above.
i want MY own shit on MY own computer in MY control, and if something's about to relieve me of my freedoms to do so, i'm not about to be partaking in it.
- mrdobolina0
oh I see what you mean about that terminal thing, but the entire world would have to be broadband in order for that to be feasible, no?
I dont see that happening real quick.
- unknown0
OSX baby..
you don't care?
hehe..

PC's suck
MAC's suck
They both have room for improvement.
My fave computer ever was my Amiga. but those days are gone!
Bad experences happen on all systems.

oh yeah and in new versions, MS will allot 1 user ID per user which will be implanted through wetwire technology in your forehead. and little LED lights will stick out of your ears and blink to denote various activities such as booting up, network connections or malicious activity (ie viruses, pirated software, etc).
bah! ya buncha conspiracy theorists!

I like potatoes...
sorry wrong thread

i would like to own a sleek powerbook. you know, for when i'm riding on that bus and want to write some code or check e-mail on wi-fi. heck, i'd even own an imac if they offered me one.
i would also like to own a linux box that stood somehwere in the corner. you know, to check if things work the same way on that platform.
but when i want to get my job done, i sit behind my pc with windows xp and do... whatever i want.
and this really is the case. it's all about power.
