After my last thread turned up 1 response.. Thank you DeviceUnseen..

I decided to start a new one.. Anybody living in the DC/Mclean area give me an idea of average salaries for a web/gra designer? probably 50/50 split on time.

Apartments seem expensive both in Mclean, alrington and tyson..

2200 low for one i Arlington I just about choked...

Any help or info would be appreciated as I have to drive up their friday and interview and decide if i can afford to live.

Ps. I am getting married in three weeks so will need a 2 bedroom apart at least.

there are so many designers here.. but salaries vary... i like your work, from what i've seen of it... you should be able to get a good job here...

i live in Falls Church... rent apartment for $1700, a 3BR... you can get a lot cheaper... but you get what you pay for... if you don't mind living in the burbs and fighting our famous traffic, you can find some good rental deals here...

i make in the $40K+ range...

buy a place if you can... i am trying right now...

    congrats on Wedding!

I would second the thought to buy a house.. small wedding big downpayment.. the market is great in the are ainterest rates are low and for 2k a month you can get almost 200k of house.. you will probably be a half hour away but if you will end up with equity and soem cash when you move up rather than some ikea furniture and a moving bill..

The salaries are good . if you take home 3500-4k a month you would be able to afford the area on one salary. Its very doable. you will have to drive wherever you end up so there is not much difference between 15 minutes and 30 minutes.. depending on when you leave it could always take 30 minutes ..

if you are adventurous .. look in Friendship in D.C above Adams Morgan. Try U street for some bargains close to Florida ave.

In Mclean try going out a bit on Glebe Road .. you might also consider going out Resevpoir Road towards Mcarthur Blvd above Canal .. parallel to teh virgina border going away from Georgetown.. doesnt sound like there would be but look and you might be pleasantly surprised .. there is a little neighborhood at Canal and Arizona along the river.. try Dorsett Place.. hope that helps find soem cool plaaces to live in the area.. if you need more email me ... I know the area fairly well.
