After the bank holiday and hours of playing, I can say they are definately the doggies nutties. Get one!!!
Does anyone know of a good reputable company who can build me a custom flight-case for it tho. Don't wanna scratch the baby now do I?

i would get a real laptop bag. cause when you fall on it, you wont break your screen like i did.
i was walking home from work one day with my 12" sony vaio in my messenger bag when I slipped, i fell right on my ass off the ice and onto my bag.
I learned my lesson and bought a solid laptop bag with lots of padding, ive allready dropped it once coming out of my car and it survived.

Mr Elbow, the machine in question was 2.5k. With that I got an A6 Wacom tablet and an extra 512Mb Ram. This baby is now running 1Gb of Rough n'ready RAM!
Damn, I'm already turning into a geek!

And 8dot3, I'm currently looking for a custom made flight case for my machine. I go filming skating with the boyz and it can get messy.
Thanks for helping me learn from your mistakes buddy. Did you get it sorted tho? Insurance cover it?

You can try a pelican 1470 or 1490. There's also a number of manufacturers which make aluminum brief cases which fit the 17", and you can buy foam seperately to pad it.
As far as skating with a 17" goes, I don't recommend it. I've brought it out a few times when i had other stuff to do after skating but with the amount of times your bag could fall over, get hit, or you just fall on it, it's not worth the chance.
Personally I'm using a waterproof backpack or my temba photo backpack plus a monolith protective sleeve from tombihn.com, it's got a plastic insert plus padding. It can only be used vertically in a backpack though.

damn that sounds fuckin awesome...how much illegal software you got on it? that is the real question...then i can truly drool over it.
