...have any chance of getting a job at a webdesign agency, without having been at a design school (yet)?
i mean, i will go to art academy next year, but are people looking for someone that hasn't even begun her training?
(btw - i do know everything about html and photoshop and flash and all that... zooi)

you can get a job. it's all about your portfolio if you have work to prove you know what you're doing. formal training is good to have if you wanna advance. but otherwise is unnecessary just to "get a job".
oh and i wouldnt say "i know everything about html and photoshop and flash" to potential employers. cuz that is a lot of stuff to know. =)

This is on aikido, but could be on any training:
"I practice because I've seen the breathaking beauty of sempai as they do even the simplest techniques, and because someday I'd like to take someone's breath away. Especially my own.
I practice because there's no judgement, no hurry, and no complaints. I practice to surprise myself as I realize what I can do. I practice for the growing awareness of what my body is doing and why and how to change it."
Go play, Workland will be there when you return.

Education does help, but when it comes down to it, its all about potential and talent... if you have either than you'll be fine.

you really cannot judge it like that, there are WAY too many variables that go into it. With that being said, you as a female should do well once you enter that job market. At least in USA.

Where I live (Michigan) there are hardly any women in webdesign. They mostly work in Print, Advertising and PR firms. Webdesign is full of geeky boys.

there are veritical and horizontal scrollbars for your site on IE on a MAC for all your little splash page cover things.

if youre really good being a girl can help you even more. i dont get why though. but it hasnt been a disadvantage for me.

It's the secrets of the "Analytical female mindset". Men want to harness it's power.
- shellie0
there is nothing analytical bout a female mindset. we function on intuition

considering 1/2 your audience is female, 1/2 your creative should be too. but i digress.
no you don't need to go to design school. I got a liberal arts BA, w/ no art classes or design classes whatsoever. but I had plenty of work experience, and lots of lucky breaks... lots of them...

I'm glad you caught my sarcasm. Every once in awhile I try to envision a world designed by women. It's like trying to think of a new color without using another color to describe it.
