How is it that a designer can bitch about having a design ripped and then logon to a P2P and download tons of copyrighted music.
Isn't the same thing?
- DonnieTV0
no

The human body is 80% water, 20% contradiction.
- niku0
not unless they claim to have made the music

- k0na_an0k0
not the same thing. now if you don't mind i have mp3s to download.
- pr20
In the end it's the music corporations that are loosing not musicians -- they have lost already.
- DonnieTV0

the biggest baddest ad execs. will admit to you that they borrow from each other all the time.
A firm my friend used to work for would brainstrom with tons of mags and review ads and be like "this would work" and take that same concept and apply it to their campaign.
It's not line for line and word for word but thats how the industry works.
Taking something and copying it exactly is just wrong but you na'im sayin.
- enobrev0
well, inter-industry biting is done in any creative industry. music, design, art, whatever.. it's usally referred to as inspiration, and a lot of times it is. "Inspiration" is how we learn.
Besides that, taking someone's creative work and calling it your own as if you created it is not the same as taking a song so you can listen to it without buying it.
- K_Fresh0
Well...maybe if I took the song and passed it off as my own. I don't really see how you can attempt to make a comparison.
Music is a form of art/entertainment, much like design. People can download, view and enjoy MY hard work for free. I love what I do and I don't bitch when I can't afford that gold shiftknob for my Bentley. The crying musicians aren't in it for art or music's sake, they want their hands to be full of green. Fuck them... That's not real.

BTW enobrev, I figured out how to edit the CFM files for my client, i think so anyway. they are testing on their server now.
if it doesn't work, i will be in contact.

"would brainstrom with tons of mags and review ads and be like "this would work" and take that same concept and apply it to their campaign.
"that's exactly how it works with a lot of companies/agencies...
that is how trends develop: same in music, same in fashion, same in design...
- mikeim0
what I should have asked was if a client uses something you do for them and never pays you for it,
isn't THAT the same thing as downloading copyrighted music form P2Ps?
- DonnieTV0
this is giving me a headache
- ok_static0
hmm... it's not the same to me.
