been searching all over.... can't find.
I am new to fonts. besides Times, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, Georgia, etc. what other "Regular Web Fonts" are there?
also I don't really understand the differnt types of fonts, bitmap, pixel, true type, ATM, Post Script, screen, type 1, type 2 etc.... what's the difference?
Also, I wonder how there can be so many new fonts, seems like the shapes of letters only have so many variations and they all just look the same to me.
anyone have any web sites that explain it all or try to? thanks.

You have to learn more about typography to both understand it and fully appreciate it.
i suggest you read this for starters:

whew! r u in school for design? this is a tough questin :) but i have another book for you... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obido…
and - the other advice i have is to look at type as abstractly as possible.. see them as shapes not so much as letters or words - at 1st THEN do the readability test ;)

thanks for the book links, the first one "Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works"
seems like a pretty long winded, but good one, maybe I'll get it. I've been reading it off the site so far. are there any quick and dirty resources that just sum it up in a couple hours or less? thanks.
