If you were going to start a business selling art, what would you do? How would you start?

There´s a place here where I live, called "Starving Artizt".
They sell unkonown artists work like a clothing store, tons a all kinds of paitings pilled up likes a 2.hand record store. It´s NOT a gallery, put very laidback and alot of people hang out there. Kind of takes the whole "stock-up" attitude out the buisness.

i'd start by selling on ebay, or maybe set up a small site. very little overheads that way, and reach a global audieance

Thanks Sexypixel, I've set up my own site, but I'm running into problems like making my images so they can't be stolen. I figure the ones on right now are not safe, but I don't know any java scripts to protect them. http://www.eeklipzz.com

i doubt it's a whole lot different than any other retail business when it comes down to it...I guess you need to know what sort of market you're looking at and where to get art cheap, or if you're rich as fuck start going to auctions...if there's art schools in your area go there, i know students need that sort of place, but don't take any shit that comes through the door, you'll need standards cause people will ignore you quickly if any of the stuff is lame...corporate types love to buy reletivly cheap art it gives them a sense of worldliness they can't otherwise aquire. remember art isn't cheap, there's a reason why prices seem ridiculously bloated. it's unique, no bulk, lots of labour and can be a decent investment

Thank you for the input wadafa. The are on the website below is my art: http://www.eeklipzz.com. I've drawn it myself and I would love to get some input on some of it. Is it worth selling?

I would love to. Unfortunately, I'm still drudging through all the planning and brain storming. If you've got a site, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it.

Very good idea. I believe the idea is best described in the movie, "A beautiful mind". If a company works for it's best interests, then they will harness the ability to cooperate with their competators. To work for the good of all, will not only gain noteriety for the whole, but also, will bring success to the indivedual. I like this. If your interested.
