how many of you are waiting for the annoucements of Apple?
I'm waiting to know about the new ipod since january I cant stand it!
Last rumors where more conservatives... I read that the butons display will still be the same as the curent one. Personnally I dont care since I'm sure the design will be beautifull wathever it remain the same or be a new one. But I hope to get record sound capability as new feature.

can anyone get into the http://www.macminute.com/ site.
cos i can't, and i need to know about the new ipods. i need one so badly. i really, really do. and i mean REALLY need one and like now.
- sephil0
try Macrumors they are runing low bandwith version...
look like not such a big upgrade:
"New iPods, AAC Decoding, Alarm Clock, On the Go Playlist. New Games - Solitaire and Parachute. 1:00pm: It starts. 12:37: Apple Stores are going down. (US one still up at this time)"
Only playlist on the go is cool...

all i can get onto is this. ipods were announced.

sounds good to me. like the idea of the port stand thingy. but what's AAC? is it an alternative to mp3?
- sephil0
ACC is an alternative to mp3... better compression for same quality the files is half the size. So we just double the capacity of the ipod but it was a given we knew since a month now along with the dock.
Im desapointed... no audio record... no video...no FM broadcaster. It wished they add some capability to this amazing mp3 player.

to be honest i think that current ipods do exactly what i want...and do it well.
radio, video etc might be nice, but i don't particually want to pay for stuff i'm not going to use.btw..i assume that AACis compatible with pc's.
- unknown0
no, just for mac.
but you already have an ipod.
what are you waiting for?
go mac!
- kpl0
AAC will be compatible with pcs. just not now. AAC is not an apple proprietary format, it's part of the mpeg-4 standard.
as for the playable on three macs drm thing...maybe that just means AAC files from Apple won't work on PCs. i'm sure someone can hack their way out of that.

using iTunes 4 now. buying new 30gb iPod today from macwarehouse. hopefully i'll get a considerable discount and free overnight shipping. i'm looking to get it for around $340. we'll see what i can talk my way into.
as for functionality. iTunes 4's music store is pretty cool. great UI. the browse fuction is unbelievable.
the iPod look is starting to grow on me. not sure about new button placement. but i need to upgrade from my 10 anyway.

- Play your music on up to 3 Macs.
- Put your music on an unlimited # of iPods
- Playlist must be modified for every 10 burns.
- 200,000 tracks, unlimited CD burn for personal use.
- ganon0
how will you be able to score it for $340 and free shipping?..apple store says $500..i wouldnt think macwarehouse would be much different....
- xrusos0
oops, i meant $440. and let's just say i've gotten on their good side. hopefully i can score it for less than that. but we'll see.
i make all my purchases through them now and have an account manager who helps me out. if you want a mac product, go to mac warehouse and ask for dave rosario when you call. he may not be able to help you much in terms of cost the first time (not saying he won't), but after that he'll help you out when he can. he's awesome and saved me tons of cash on my last purchase (17" powerbook). if you want phone # and extension for him lemmee know.
