Quick one, I have my mp3s on my external drive (backup) and on my laptop (to listen to from).
I update my laptop mp3 folder with new ones everyday, and back them up every week. To do this I copy the mp3 folder on my laptop and over write the mp3 folder on my external drive. This is a pain in the ass now as my mp3 folder is 15 gigs and it takes forever to copy, is there any way that xp can figure out what files are already there and bypass them and just copy the new files? Thanks

does it not ask that "yes to all" and "no to all" question? if it does then click "no to all" and you should be set.
but i am not sure if it asks the question.

but wont that bypass the whole folder? I might have two new files in afolder, but if the folder already exists wont xp bypasss it?

no, if you click "no to all" on the over write question - that just means that it will run the check on each file and wont overwrite anything but save only the files that don't already exist in that folder.
do i make sense? its hard for me to make sense sometimes.

Ok, i ust did a test. I copied a copy of a colder onto itself, but with an extra file in it, i get a window saying "If the files in the existing folder have the same name as the files in the folder you are moving or copying, they will be replaced. Do you still want to move or copy the folder?
yes-yes to all - no - cancel
