anyone know of any good tutorials on icon making?
i need to create some icons for out PC software here at work and have neve done it before.
i sure could use some help.

been there.. was looking for a more indepth tutorial.
i'm sure not everyone needs icon builder to create icons.
i just don't know the ins and outs.. create big and shrink.. colors.. etc...

I believe that they are supposed to be 32 x 32. You have to export them as .ico format, that's for sure. I think you can do it in Illustrator, but I have created many of mine in GIF MOVIE GEAR at http://www.gamani.com

but the best advice i can give you is to go and look at retro video game sprite galleries, the ones with wonderboy and mario and sonic and so fourth.. oh megaman especially, alot of really intense icon work was done back then, start somewhere like - http://www.rpgicons.com/main.htm…

Theres a really large history of creatively efficient imagery out there, i wish i could find some instructive resources about 2D video game graphics (this whole 3d game thing doesn't really interest me on aesthetic level) but i fear most of this stuff was learnt and passed on without much documentation... there is a book called 'trigger happy' that goes into some detail about iconic representation but there should be so much more. The nature of search engines often means that ppl look for things with different strings, if you do find more stuff then pls post it here or send me an email.
