I have some music by an established artist. I want to use it on a site I'm developing. If I give credit to the artist on the site, is it ok? How does this work? Thanks.

If you have his permission. Why not just email him and ask? If it is just for personal work, then I'm sure something could be worked out...if it is for client/professional work then some form of payment will probably be required.
Generally you can't just include work that isn't yours without proper permission...credit only goes so far....and fair use requires some for of educational value.
