please help, i have a movieclip with:
onClipEvent (mousedown) (
_root.gotoandPlay ("main", 6);
)this clip is nested in another one, and that one is then placed in the "main" timeline...when i click this, it goes to frame 1 of "main"...i am new to actionscript and paths, so is does this look right?..is my path scripting messed up?...i need it to go to frame 6, not 1....
thanks....

your syntax is rooted it seems, but not knowing what the MC's are called or where they are position in reltion to the main stage then this is only a guess.
it shopuld be somthing like
_root..main(6);

it's better to use parent, but you're just over complicating things. if you need the main timeline to go to the 6th frame then:
onClipEvent (mousedown) (
_root.gotoAndPlay(6);
)

thank you, but it is still not working...i have two clip events for one movie clip, is that messing me up...?
onClipEvent (enterFrame) (
if (this.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)) (
this.nextFrame();
) else (
this.prevFrame();
)
)
onClipEvent (mouseDown) (
_root.gotoandPlay(5);
)

the "a" in gotoandPlay needs to be capitalized.
gotoAndPlay;
