I'm a Final Cut and After Effects user and I just started learning Maya. If money wasn't an option what compositing program would you guys reccomend? My company has Shake, Combustion and Commotion and if I only want to learn one what would you reccomend? Thanks for your help and expertiese.
Also can you do animations in these other applications like you can in AE?

combustion is the weapon of choice

Combustion? Even over an application like Shake? Can you do cool animations in Combustion like in AE. What about 3D stuff?
Thanks guys.

it works well with 3d max

What about an app for Maya users? If Shake and Combustion had equal 3D Studio Max integration, and were both free, which would you use?

combustion all the way, it does it all. And it gets you into thinking the way discreet does, because flint flame and inferno are the older brothers. Man I am a nerd.

but damn Shake is wicked powerful too you can do really complicated tricks in that software.

If you had to choose between Combustion and Shake which way would you go? I'm leaning towards Shake, because I'm a Mac user, and because I'm learning Maya. Does this make sense?
What about Commotion? Is it even in the same league as these other two?

like previously noted, combustion is great because you ca step up your knowledge to flames and infernos...however, out of the three shake is the most powerful when dealing with maya imo.
ps. i hate you...i want to learn that shit....and i want a job...so go to hell :)

Anyone else want to chime in. If I started using Shake, does it become a replacement for AE, or do you think I will be using them together?
What kind of setups (software) are you guys using. Include anything you think is important, even stuff we haven't specifically talked about before. Thanks!
