its a shareware program called "synergy" http://synergy.wincent.org/ .... its a must have- it should be built into the OS. Not only does this tiny app add a functionality to the menu bar but its also creates cool transparent window that fade in and out before each song.
As far as the calendar is concern... I dont know.
