is it possible to do cross browser / platform development without actually having all platforms? This must be a major problem and I'm surprised I don't see more discussions about this, since i doubt that *everyone* has access to both pc and mac.
So I'm curious how you guys make your stuff work on both mac's and pc's. I for one am sick and tired of spending hours on something and later on find out that one of them couldn't handle tricky alignment or certain justifications. so how do you do it?

oh f-word, this doesn't have an interesting title, so it'll just die..
but please, i can't be the only one who cares about the "dark side"?

I own both a PC and Mac for testing. I have always known this to be the case with many designers but I suppose if you don't have the money for both then you rely on the kindness of strangers to test it or you just have faith that it works on all browsers.
:P

I almost forgot. If you are on a Mac, you don't need to own a PC persay. You can just emulate the PC environment in Virtual PC.

crist, somebody could get rich making a browser for pc that shows how it would look on a mac. that's all i want!

I think you pretty much get to a point where you know all the little bugs and differences in the platforms/browsers. Then it's just a shoot an email of to your mac/PC buddies to test.
Every client I worked for in the past year has said the same thing "oh don't worry about mac, it's less than 1% of our audience.

Lets not forget that there is more than just two platforms out there people use daily.
Linux is making a push for desktop usage, and with Lindows and other easy environments more and more people are choosing it for their main system.
And, what looks good in Windows and MAC may not look right on Linux.
Although, MAC is closer than Windows now, as far as matching Linux displays - especially in browsers.
