shit yo! US Gov got your ass, that sucks bigtime. I never report my shit! LOL! They can blow me!
- cinder0
so I take it you earned over 100K in freelance then and didn't save any?
you might wanna hire an accountant . . .
- cinder0
ps:
you site doesn't detect correctly and your flashupgrade page gives me a 404
- inferno0
Cinder thanks for the flash detect bug. I'll check it out.
Yes I did make over a $100K last year and didn't save shit. I got tagged with $9600 in self employement tax which sucks ass. Oh well guess I'll just have to whore myself out more this year. LOL!

100k a year.
ya know i really have no concept of what that would mean.
hell, come to think of it, i make closer to what you owe in taxes. haha.
- dsmith70
Bio is right. If your making a 100k a year then you should be a little more responsible with your money. Didn't ya figure that you would have a shitload of taxes on the money? Have you never payed taxes before?

my wife does the number crunching around our house...
at first draft, it looked as though i owed about 2,500 in taxes..
so we maxed out the rrsps and whatnot, looking to make somekind of a break, and then it looked as though i'd only owe 400...
well, we just got out taxes back in ....
turns out, my wife had to pay a few bucks..
but get this...
they sent me a check for $40 bucks..too funny...
anyhow...nice to know i don't have to pay..
now i just have to repay my rrsp from before...i borrowed money from it to buy my house...
not sure if they have rrsps in the states, or what the equivelant would be...(although thats probably a stupid thing to say...im sure they have it just like we have mcdonalds...)

holy snap, man. i didn't realize you can make $100k doing freelance. were you working every friggin' hour of the day? what's your hourly rate? i mean, how the hell did you do that?!
i could learn a lot from you.

Man, and I thought I was getting the whole fist up my crack with $3000 in taxes...
Are they using both fists with you inferno?? do you like that feeling?
I had no idea I was claiming 2 dependents over the last year... i almost always have claimed 0... but something screwy happened with my W2s... it was a sure fun surprise when i realized this!
oh.. and your site is crapped out... not working... but i got no room to speak...
- inferno0
Yeah I knew I was going to have to pay but I was thinking more like $10k it is the Self Employment tax that I wasn't expecting of $9600.
Lesson learned must pay quarterly taxes on freelance!!! Woo hoo I just got done with a conference call with a new client though and it went well.

Yeah I know I have to fix the fucking flash detect. I just have been so busy with other things. The way I made over $100k was having a fulltime contract all of last year at a huge corp. Made $80K there and then about $35K in freelancing outside of that. I'll tell you it was a shit load of hard work.

Ok.. have to get on my soap box. hehehe. Not directed at anyone in particular.
Just remember, that for you guys that are traditionally employed.... whenever you "owe" taxes and have to write the gov't a check, that's ABOVE and BEYOND the money you've already been paying out throughout the course of the year via Withholding.
Withholding is the most evil part of taxes in the US (do you guys overseas have that?) It was supposed to be a temporary thing for WWII, to get the gov't funded better and quicker for the war. Before that you had to write a big fat check at the end of the year.
Could you imagine getting a bill from the gov't at the end of every year saying you owed $15K? Most people would sh*t a brick... even if they were getting about 30-40% more in their checks over the course of the year.
