our company, and a client, have been having trouble with receiving adobe files via email...example: i get an eps logo sent to me, and it comes in as two seperate files, both named the same thing, both with the file extension ".dat"...one is 22.5KB and one is 125KB...i cant open them, but if i rename the extension .ai or .eps, they open in illustrator...and both look the same...even though different sizes...its also happened with .pdfs...has anyone had this problem?..and ideas how to remedy it?...

I sometimes get that problem when emailing files from a mac to my pc, and vice versa, stuffit or zippit and that shit wont matter anymore.

I think you usually get this with a lot of files on mak... one of them is probably the icon for that file?!? could be while it's smaller, but don't quote me on that!

Why email? Why don't you just post the files in a password protected directory on a server?

for the same reason he probably doesn't get a pigeon to pick them up.

thanks for the help...the mac->pc thing make sense...i dont think one is an icon though, because they both open up and look the same...our IT guy is now saying the files could be allocated differently, and still be duplicates when opened...dont ask me to elaborate....

run! it's the IT guy... I'm sure the mac holds your icon data as a seperate file when it goes over to a mac!

but how can that file open up in illustrator just like its duplicate if its just icon data?...
