Anyone use the terminal a lot in OSX? I only know how to change directories and delete stuborn files.
Anyone know of a good place to find more use for the terminal? More commands other than "cd" "ls" and "rm"

most regular Unix commands will work in the terminal. If you are seriously interested in learning some more Unix capabilities then I recommend picking up O'Reilly's Mac OSX in a Nutshell has three major chapters on the terminal in Jaguar, http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/m… .
I also recommend reading through some of the suggestions at http://www.macosxhints.com
You can learn a great deal about the "hidden" awesome features of OSX made possible via the terminal.
O'Reilly also has a book all about Mac OSX hacks, http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/m… .
the regular hacks page is here http://hacks.oreilly.com/

btw, I am not an O'Reilly employee or anything. I just know that when it comes to programming, the O'Reilly books have _always_ helped me out wonderfully.

if you ever feel bbedit is not for you, you can use vi.
bwahahahahaa...... oh man... hahah, that's rich...anyway...
I like using top on occasion...used to use pine extensively when I worked at a linux-heavy shop.

top is really nice in Unix but I have found that OSX's Utility process viewer is a nice GUI for the top command (essentially the same thing).
But it is always good to know the top command and to how to kill processes (same thing as force quit but you can stop specific processes within an app)
Hey I love OSX and I have kind of spearheaded my company to use it exclusively so if you have any questions feel free to ask away!

Thanks a lot dsmith7
Ah I forgot about O'riely books I used them back in the day when I was learning html and javascript rollovers.
What do you use for a font manager? Im using suitecase and love the fact that it enables fonts for me when I open illustrator docs. But it is jinky sometimes. I have a copy of font reserve waiting for me but Im hesitant to install it when I have three projects going on.

i tried both demos of Suitcase and FontReserve and I have since stuck with Suitcase
I found that FontReserve didn't allow me an easy way to view fonts quickly (i would have to double click on the font to see it) whereas in Suitcase you just highlight a font and use the down-arrow key to view another.
Glad I could help.
