i just wanted to say that activist sites don't have to look good. I would go as far as to say that they have to look kind of bad as cool-looks says "temporary" -- something that many of those orgs don't want to comunicate.

since when is *anything* related to activists good? Riots. Yes that's what they are, RIOTS!

but we're designers wouldn't you like to see a nicely designed site that has content you can feel then a nicely designed corp site selling bullshit.

I totally agree, jox.

thats my point. Nicely designed site with a content stops you from feeling that content.

I think a well designed site is crucial for communicating something as important as the content within an activist site. I see what you mean about a glossy site communicating the wrong message, but if you get it right then the design could be beneficial in communicating and educating your audience. I think lots of activist groups could benefit from better designed media... there are alsoissues of preaching to the converted which i think need to be dealt with, i bought a copy of green left the other day and couldn't help thinking to myself that although the paper might appeal to those already in the movement but for those outside it almost seemed to be pushing them away...
