equalizer flash Mp3 player

Does anyone have a FLA file for flash that shows how this equalizer for an Mp3 player is made? Similar to these.
http://www.flaminglips.com or http://www.spartamusic.com I have found one on flashkit.com but I can't seem to get it to work. Also I was told this is a component that will only work if you design it on a PC is this true?

haven't used this tutorial myself, but it looks the sort of thing you are after. i think it's more about using a third party bit of software to spit out the levels as variables:

does anyone know if this with work if your designing it on a MAC. Also it looks that, in order for it to work. All the mp3s need to be convert to a .wav file. Does anyone know if this is true? I would like to keep the files as mp3s, to also use them as down loads in the media section of the web site

what you need to do is run your .mp3's trough swiftmp3 (google it), it will give you a swf with the mp3 in it and in each frame there will be 18 variables containing frequency spectrum amplitude information (or whatever) that you can use to make those lines jump
and it will work on any platform that has Flash, your friend is talking about something else (there was a winamp hookup thing) or he is a fool.
