The College Madness continues... what do you people think? For a better design (graphic) education: The Rhode Island School of Design, or Carnegie Mellon University? I've posted half of this question before... but I'd like to hear anyones opinion. Particularly those who have had direct experience with both schools.
Thanks.

have you visited both schools? if you havent you probably should if the decision is this important to you. there are always people who will say they loved or hated the same school so its hard to judge.
set up a tour, sit in on some classes if you can to get a feel for what you will be learning. meet the professors etc. then make your decision.
im sure you know all this allready, but i think its real important to choosing a school thats right for you.

I thought RISD was cool, never been to CMU. Providence is getting to be a decent city and RISD is in a great location.
Do go see it. They are building a new $10mill building.

gotta throw in my vote for RISD cuz a couple of my friends went there and they seemed to gain a lot from the experience. the school was also featured in ID magazine last summer.
CMU is more of a science school, ain't it?

I was visiting RISD last year and took a tour. All I can say it's damn nice. The students were all eager to talk about their experience they've mad so far. The facilities were looking good too and Rhose Island is a nice city, the only bad thing is that all the clubs and bars are closed at 2 am and of course the 30 geez you have to spend each year for tuition

I Graduated from RISD last year. All the design departments are excellent.
The Graphic Design department is no exception, however the education there is unique. You'll learn more about design principles and gain a very good sense of typography rathen then how to use the latest software. Also the departments main goal is that you leave with social consciousness rathen then a desire to be a rock star. The facilities are great, not many other places where you can learn to make all your projects from scratch, and have all the equipment available. (like a typeshop)
Its an expensive school to run, but its worth it, especially when your sorounded by hard working people. As a bottom line you're only as good as those around you.

I am telling you right now, again, come to Carnegie Mellon, not only is a top notch school, you are talking about a University named after a man, Andrew Carnegie, that basically helped build the United States of America. Trust me man, Pittsburgh is a rockin' place if you want it to be. There is much going on at that school and it is WELL connected. CMU it is! :)
