Well I suppose 'originality is a must' isn't relevant anymore in designer's world these days..

wow, that stuff has been everywhere for 5 years now— can't we move on to a new super-trend already?

I'm so sick and tired of all these 3D-fancy-looking-splashes.
I don't care how long it takes to make them, it's just that EVERYBODY is doing stuff like that.Whatever happened to innovation?

real creativity— genuinely original ideas/visual expressions— are so damn rare. It's hard to avoid outside influences, so most people put their own spin on what's popular [which is kind of creative, I guess]. the really unique stuff comes from designing in a vacuum. just a theory.

speaking of, blastofv, you have some great stuff on your site!

thanks jox— it's a work in progress though

I agree that uniqueness/originality is hard to achieve. But we're supposed to make an extra effort, aren't we? I'm also sick of the 3D crystals+unreadable, useless typo and such... No matter how good they are, it's just boring looking at the 1000s of similar works.

I think, if I'm honest with myself, that I've only come up with one or two truly unique creative ideas in my life.
I can trace the influences in almost everything I produce.
The good stuff comes from super-progressive, open minded clients... or in personal design work. We all should be trying harder Elektro, so true man.

Being the founder of Sonic Nerve I feel I should respond to these comments. First of all
I think everyone should know this guy "fues" (nicolas desle) submitted a design to the competition that was not selected. For him to bash the originality of the chosen designs is really kind of ironic being as how his entry was basically just text that read,"I Like Chicks, Helvetica and Gradients." Personally I didn't care for this design, but I sure as heck didn't go around bashing it in public forums. That would have been totally counter-productive and probably would have hurt someone's feelings. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but like it or not, a lot of time, effort and thought has gone in to the sonic nerve project. If you're not into it then that's cool with me because I realize we can't be everything to everyone, that's just the nature of all art I guess. If you've got some constructive criticism just let me know,(I'd love to hear from you) but please let's leave the mudslinging out of it. Or at least wait to bash us until we're a big commercial success and we sell out to the man:) For Gods sakes let's at least bash Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein, because aren't they the real enemy! jk.There's enough negativity in the world as it is!

Well, as for me I just said it's boring, no hard feelings/mudslinging on my previous post. I guess I just dig originality above all (as original as things can be these days tho and even if you fail in the serach for "uniqueness") ;) I know lots of work may be involved in "trendy" works, just it doesn't appeal to me. I see your point anyways. Thx for pointing out that fues' design was not selected, maybe he posted this out of anger... :p J/K. And I totally agree: both Hilfiger and Klein suck ass and they're the enemy. Fuck them, I don't even like their products... ;D
