Does anyone know how successful it is to embed a flash movie into and html email???

Most email clients don't allow Flash's activeX as a safety precaution.

yeah, that's true, you don't see it very much.

yeah a client requested it and i just wanted to get the low down before i spend a few hours testing it.

yeah it simple, just embed it in the same way as you would embed it in a webpage, and obviously enter the full url to the movie on your server.

In my experience this doesn't work, unless the user has enabled it manually which would count for a small number of potential recipients... have you?! I haven't.
I'd advise that you keep it simple - html and css but I'd even avoid javascript. The "text" bit is the only thing that will arrive in the email and I can imagine that Javascript will be blocked by some firewalls etc. Use a base URL and host your pictures somewhere reliable. Not everyone will be able to see it anyway so you may as well design for a fairly good success rate.
