I saw the link to Jordan Crane's site today on K10K.
Huh? I don't get it. Is this a photographer, or is this just today's modern art?

Jordan has been around for a while but I still don't get him either? in fact, I don't get contemporary art? I mean what is a soup can but nothing more than tin that holds the goodness of mother nature and mass produced man made nutrients to provide nourishment for the masses. I just don't get it!

sarcasm aside- whats the deal with his "honeymoon in NJ" deal. its not art its just kind of dumb. its like a who's who of road kill. Actually that sounds like a great idea for a piece -"Who's who of road kill" it could be a documentary like behind the music and showcase a different famous roadkill animal every week. I mean, Americans love hitting things with their cars so their should be plenty out there to work with!
I don't know whats with me today. I've been knee deep in database admin. today and its going to my brain. Somebody get me a jolt cola!

jordan has some real nice composition, portrait shots lit fashion model style, type over images, etc., not entirely original but damn good... reminds me exactly of a great dead designer who invented that style... tibor kaman.

I like jordan's work. He's smart and it's something important in my oppinion. The down side is that his stuff just leaves me cold. No emotions. No chills through my spine. It's probably just me maybe.... but I need shit that moves me.

what's cold about jordan crane is that some of his work is pushing formal boundries of photography. He's taking (digital) photography into a logical direction. Check A LESSON IN OBJECTIVITY; that modest piece is expanding the medium of photography as you know it.
I don't know of any artist (i wouldn't call JC a "designer") that is pushing the medium of Internet based photography as he is. http://gltss.org is doing something... but JC is on some other sh*t.

I'm at a loss to come up with an intelligent, well thought out answer right now, as i'm sleepy and avoding thinking, but i'm pretty sure i see amazing photography, and amazing presentations of said photography all the time. Jordan Crane has his style, and I dig it, I just dont see the work as a "new direction in photography".
