ARGH!
Have you ever taken x amount of hours designing something...
and then realized it didn't work (aesthetically or function wise) so you just scrapped it, completely throwing away hours of work?

I agree. It's never a waste of time. It can be bad for a deadline however.

yes. every time.
(which is why giving an estimate for a job based on a concept of how long it will take seems crazy to me)

Many times...The binned ideas always end up as the final versions tho.
