How can i be the best quake player here at work, can you download guns and stuff or are there tricks to be like the strongest one or something.
i suck.
- Bio0
i'll give lessons for beer.
or i will just whip your coworkers asses for you.
=)
- ********0
yeah you have to be able to
- surfito0
dang, everybodys having fun, and everything i join i get killed on the spot.

practice makes perfect. practice with using the rail gun only. your aim will eventually get better and then you can lay waste to your co-workers. :)
- Bio0
make sure you set your keys to this:
W - walk forward
A - strafe left
D - strafe right
S - backwardsMouse 1 - fire
Mouse 2 - jump
Mouse 3 - cycle weaponsShift - run
then you will be ready to go. dont ever use the arrow keys. they suck. and dont invert your mouse. remember to jump a lot and ALWAYS run. NEVER walk!
now go kick some ass!

i'll challenge *anyone* to a game of team fortress classic!
[in my best bruce campbell voice]
who wants some?
- Bio0
this is my BOOM stick!
- mitsu0
hmmm, i just use spacebar for jump since my left hand thumb's right there.
but i've seen stranger configs before.
- Bio0
spacebar is doable, but i think if you change over to the right click jump, you will thank me.
and yes, i am a huge dork.

Don't let the getting creamed right at startup thing discourage you. It happens a lot at first. Just hit the ground running and keep in continuous motion.
Winning has a lot to do with tactics rather than pure technical skill. i.e. chuck a grenade in one door and cap every one that runs out the other side.
Practice is the best way to build your skills.

Its all about the binds.
Wanna learn tactics, play CTF, and make sure you practive with bots set to the hardest setting.
- mitsu0
i use binds for priming nades... very convenient!
quake is fun, but it's more run n' gun and less strategy than team fortress - imo
- fusion410
I hear ya. i get bored of DM really fast. Thats why I almost exclusively play CTF.
I never played team fortress though. sounds iteresting. Where can i download it? I would need the mac version.
- Bio0
ah. ive been playin the shit outta castle wolfenstein.
the multiplayer onthat is fucking phenominal.i love me some quake, but wolfenstein is mad fun on multiplayer!
- mitsu0
hmm, don't think it's available for mac as it's a mod of half life..
this is also the same engine that counter strike is based off of...here's a link for more info...
- mitsu0
btw, if you do have a pc, you can dl the online version of counter strike witch comes with team fortress all for free... you'll just have to patch the hell out of it.
you haven't lived until you've learned to rocket jump onto a building if tfc and take out the opposition with a few well timed nades!
- Bio0
rocket jumping. . .
hahahaha. how many times did i blow myself to pieces learning that one. haha

Quake is a must have if you are into procrastinating during spells of uncreativity. Learn to strafe jump before rocket jump..its much more important. :)
Wolf is pretty fun in groups for sure. Ironically enough I am a founder of a clan of about 12 people who play Wolf & Quake together. We have relaxed in the past few months but for a while there it was an evry night affair.
We are known as Clan Pixel and all have funny pixel names because we are all designers, We even have a couple of chick designers that play :)

Ok, I'm up for a bit of Team Fortress Classic action. Mitsu I reckon I could lay you to waste (that was a gauntlet I was throwing down). Also if anyone is up for Counter STrike I play that too.

Have to chime in and say that I think spacebar for jump is the best way to go. Also, in addition to practicing with the railgun, make sure that you get some good 'ol machinegun practice in too. If you aim is good, then the machine gun is a powerful weapon.
