Any good ones around? Agencies keep telling me how 'depressed' the market is at the moment. Harumph.

Ive been looking and theyre quite shitty, ive resorted to getting into friends who have friends who have contacts etc,
Im doing stuff for broadcast now (for free) but its good experience.and something to do while looking for a job

Good Idea. Not working is boring. There's a job going at my local Kwik Kopy. Harumph.

i didnt mean go n get any job,
i'd just be designing at home when im jobless so i might aswell do it for tv and get credit
- MikeyMoo0
I was joking about Kwik Kopy although I did stand in front of the window like a dork and read the whole ad from top to bottom. Harumph.

you need to pay 20 a year for subscription, but every job in every industry ends up on mad
- MikeyMoo0
I used to have a Mad subscription when I was working but I can't afford one now. Harumph.
- Danski0
Is it worth subscribing? I've been thinking about it for a while now.
Too much thinking, and not enough doing. Time to pull my socks up, and no mistake.
- MikeyMoo0
It's cool for jobs and if you don't want to bother going down the street for a copy of Design Week or Creative Review. I think you get a subscriptio to Mad with these mags too.
- vespa0
Danski I can't believe you are out of work - your site is really good!
- mikie0
yep, if you subscribe to either creative review or design week you get free access to mad.
they send u emails pretty much every other day with new jobs that are available.
- vespa0
In fact everyone on this thread has a decent portfolio... what are you guys doing? Send your shit out to every decent company around! Dont wait for a job to be advertised - remember only 25% of jobs get advertised and everyone goes for those ones.
- Danski0
Thanks vespa, I'm not out of work but I'm in-house and want to go full-on speedballs creative before my head explodes.
Which may be soon. It's pulsing, even now.

I've only just returned in the UK and me networking skills is severly lacking.
- unknown0
for 20 quid I thinks its well worth it
- MikeyMoo0
You dont get access to any of the magazine articles which you can buy anyway. I think it's cheeky when other magazines put their archives up for free.
- unknown0
yeh true, but they have the jobs thing sown up
- MikeyMoo0
True. I'd rather buy the Mag for the Jobs section cause you can see how companies present themselves. I'm a bit of a fuddy duddy (damn I gotta stop using that term). by the way, the DNA site is pretty ace.
- mikie0
i agree. mad is a pretty crap site really, especially considering the ammount of cash that must get put into it.
i've only ever used it for the jobs section. its sooo damn ugly aswell.
u'd think that with them aiming it at the design market, they'd at least try and make it look good.

thanks, we finished it not long ago...
well im playing in the mad five a side footie on saturday.
They invade my life
