Cab fare in NYC?

This Friday I'm going to try to take the 10 hour test (see the Matthew Barney article at http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/2… )
I'll be flying in at La Guardia Friday morning and even though budget it tight, I may just take the taxi from there straight to the Guggenheim. How much should I anticipate paying for the taxi fare between La Guardia and Guggeinheim? And how long of a ride would it be?

I think the flat fare from LAG to the city is $30 (plus tipand tolls).
If you go to the Guggenheim, you should consider the Edwin Dickenson show at the Nat. Academy of Design just up the block, and definitely see the Manet / Velasquez show at the Met. The wait for DaVinci has been over 2hours... which might not be so convenient with your timeline.
oh, trip in depends heavily on when on Friday you get in. Rush hour might add a lot to your commute. I'd count on an hour by cab in heavy traffic, though i've done it in 20 min. late at night.
enjoy the city

You are going to pay somewhere in the range, depending upon traffic 25 to 35 dollars. I used to live about 10 minutes away from that airport in Astoria, Queens and have taken that cab ride many times to Mid-town and Upper sides, especially when I was late for work or already drunken.

Thanks guys for the info.
It's good to know that it's going to be a flat rate (just in case the ride turns out to be an hour long due to traffic).
I might go to the Met. The Cloisters is a definite destination this weekend.

I'll be coming from L.A.
But if the war gets crazier, I may have to cancel the trip.

you'll have fun dude and you'll be fine. From LA to NYC sounds like it would be safe. Out of NYC Trans-Atlantic bound to Europe and vice-versa I would think twice about.
