Hi all,
Some clients of mine registered their domain initially with easyspace. We have been waiting for the current hosting to expire so that we can move the site to a new host as we are very unhappy with the poor service and extortionate pricing we have experienced at easyspace.
So the domain registration has expired and I have set up an account with a new hosting company. Now to get the nameservers changed over. According to easyspace this is an automated procedure which you can action by logging in to their shop and adding a service to the domain.
However as my domain registration has expired I cannot add any services to it. So I contacted their support and am told that the only way I can change the nameservers to mw new host is by signing up for another year's domain registration with them. Surely this can't be legal? Anyone got any ideas?

is it a .co.uk or a .com?
If they refuse to move it you can contact the authorities and ask them in writing to change the nameservers/registrar.
Nominet is the .uk authority.
Personnally I'd change the registrar, or ask your new host to put in a regisrar transfer request which easyspace will have to respond to, this will give your new host total control over the domain name and will allow you to change the nameservers.
Hope that helps

It's .org domain, I think I'll ask my new host to put in a transfer request.
