Does anyone know where I can find a website that will contain the main elements that a professional letter should contain? Also the body and structure?
I tried searching Google and all I could come up with was letter writing software.

your wantiing info on structure..like where to put the senders and recirpients address? Well, open you mail!
Or do you want a college education in how to write a piece of coherant english?

Fortunately, I've always been able to write a piece of COHERENT English.
I basically need to know what types of paragraphs go where. For example, if I am writing a letter outlining the advantages and disadvantages of a certain subject, where do I place each item.
Do I start off by saying something like; Firstly, the advantages for ---- are ---- and ---.
Next paragraph, the disadvantages for ---- are ----- and ---- .
It seems to blatant. I guess I need more of creative way of laying out bad news and the pros and cons of a situation.

thats basic structure of a piece of writing. Did you never study english at school?

That's not basic structure. You're never supposed to dive into bad news, you must prep. the reader first. You obviously didn't study English in school. Please stop posting ignorant comments. Its because of people like yourself that most people are afraid to ask questions around here.

its common sense really. The phone company doesn't do any 'prepping' but then they dont need to. If you feel that you need to 'prep' somebody (client) then do so, there's no template for every circumstance its just language. You say you've never had a problem so whats wrong.
Put pen to paper and read, you'll know if it doesn't sound right.

thanks rasko,
thats what i am doing. i just needed a sample of body. supposedly, in creative writing your paragraph shouldn't contain more 5 sentences in the second paragraph and 9 in the last. i was just concerned with the structure looking appropriate.
this thread is over. thanks all.
