changing names?

i'm working on a catalog for home fixtures for a new housing development.
to show some of the options the buyer can choose, my client is giving me catalogs (to scan for photos...ugh) of light fixtures and changing the names from what the manufacturer calls them.
she first did this with some colors (forest green became "verde ubatuba") but now it's actual products. my boss hasn't said anything about it and he was with us when she was coming up with the names. what kind of trouble can we get into for this?

I don't understand the question.

you're screwed, SCREWED!
if i were you, i'd change my name and move to a different city. for example phoenix is a good choice.

Mayo,
if you ask me if the name "verde ubatuba" looks dumb, my answer is YES.
How are you?

"to show some of the options the buyer can choose, my client is giving me catalogs (to scan for photos...ugh) of light fixtures and changing the names from what the manufacturer calls them."
I would think that is illegal.

hi fakeyou! long time no see (except for the message you left at Methodic). I miss you too *hugs and kisses*...to someone else.
Question is should i talk to my boss about the legalities of changing the names of products? or just leave it and remain the quiet monkey behind the computer?
- ok_static0
Well then you should at least let your boss know what the "possible danger" it will have...
Good Luck!

yeah, this just doesn't sit well with me, but i'm just a drone here.
hi ok_static :) chat this weekend? maybe i'll have some art to show you.
- lifeinsodium0
i suggest that you talk about it with your boss. somebody needs to stand up and set things right.
i still do recommend changing your name and moving though.

Let your boss know you're on the ball. Word it something like...
Hey I noticed that, client is doing this, hey it's up to them - I'm sure we won't be held responsible, but do you think we should alert the client at all about this?

saf, you saw how long it took to name a frikken journal for me (my car is still un-named too).
- ok_static0
Called your car "Femme Bot"!

thanks everyone. i guess i'm just curious as to why my boss didn't say anything when the client was making up the names in my office. he was sitting right there as well.

your boss is evil. pure evil. run i say, RUN!
- mayo0
"run i say, RUN! "
aaaaauugh! leave me alone Richard Simmons!
- lifeinsodium0
damn! my cover's blown.
everybody run i say, RUN!

If your boss was right there then leave it. Your boss clearly cares more about client relations that doing the right thing... which is pretty common with boss/sales people :)

Or... he's not aware of the consequenceseseses
