I am thinking about starting a site named comicnewstoday.com and it will be based on this site, but strictly for the comic industry. I was thinking about having the same 3 categories, not named the same, but basically they will have the same functionality. Do you think this is just lame copying? How do you guys feel about this.

sounds like it could be a rip...i'd politely ask the creators of newstoday to follow the format if you think it will be dangerously close.

cant bite the QBN. in concept or in name...
it just looks lame anyway you slice it.
original name, will get you somewhere... but using newstoday in your name in anyway is gonna make the qbn'ers a little uptight i would imagine... even if its a complimetn.

I was just trying to start a news site for comics. I liked the way NT works, and think comic fans would like a similar site. Checked domain after domain, all were taken. Tried comicnewstoday and it was open.

i think if the NT founders are cool with it, do it. Link to here, give respect, and follow the same format. Spinning off can do nothing but spread the good word of Newstoday.

Imitation is flattery, & if it ain't breke don't fix it... newstoday works, I think it would be a waste of conceptual progression to leave it just in the hands of designers... it would be polite to get the opinions of the creators though... and if they're cool then a reference to them (thats reasonably easy to find) would be a nice way of giving something back to a community that (if all goes well) has been generous to you.

Yeah, I've seen that site. I agree that this is not a new idea and there are other sites as well digitalwebbing such as:

http://www.comicon.com/pulseBut these sites are difficult to use, and I often get frustrated using them.
I am hoping to create a news site which is easier to use in which comic fans could post news and skim other posts quickly and easily.
