Hey can you check http://www.ol0lo.com ? I just put up a bunch of my work. After I put it up I sat back and said "what the hell is this?" I'm not sure this work should be shown together...
You'll say.. "what is your goal?" I dunno. I studied canvas painting. I got a graphic design job, but ended up doing more and more coding till now I just program all the time. So I want a more art related job. I'm planning to go back to school for an MFA... but in the meantime I need some kinda work...
actually the job I want is the one where someone pays me money to paint whatever the hell I want :P
any kind of feedback is appreciated...

You have a good illustrative style on your upper paintings... the lower stuff looks more childish.. and I would push that further when you study so it becomes less childlike... i think the thick black lines are making it more cartoonish.. try thin lines.
. Start looking at designers that do great illustrative work...that crowed painting with tons of heads.... its pimp "leaves on the ground" you could do some sweet Designs with your top row artwork. I would push that... and push the bottem into more adult illustration...
but overall good

mate your work is great, nice styles, love the pointelest works..
A freind of mine is in the same dilema as you, he's a code monkey and wants another outlet.
So he goes around to cafes and offers to display his artwork in them, puts a pricetag on them and waits. He's sold a few but not enough to pay the bills.
btw: how the hell do you tell peolpe what your url is?

good stuff, I agree that the lower illustrations are a bit childlish. Just keep what you aare doing, You're definitely on the right track.
good luck.

I decide no to watch the previous post.
Love your stuff, but i wanna ask why flash and why pop-up?
I can't see a reason why you use flash, and more important, you stuff looks dull in flash, totally ruins your work.
Go HTML & JPEG.

Your analogue art is beautiful, man - but for some reason, I clicked on your digital illustration stuff first and almost left immediately... it's of an entirely different standard.
If I had the cash I'd consider buying Rain, Leaves on the ground or One Birthday - I really like them that much.
In terms of site design, I don't see why you need to flip between the two navigation ideas as you do - but it works, so fuckit.
ps. what's with the Cactii fixation? :)

the site worked fine for me.
I wish i could code, but im gonna try to learn this summer.
Actually I like the childish paintings. but call them "naive" is sounds more arty.
Lets face it, Julian Opie is on a roll as an artist painting this way. its just a matter of getting known and moving in the right circles..........very difficult !

Dont we all, lol.........dream on tho !

Thanks... it sounds like I should separate this stuff.
I think it's the work related stuff you guys are not keen on. I guess I threw it it because those are some of the few actual graphics I've done at work....here is a flash version of those "leaves on the ground" one: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/e_mil…
The cacti thing is part of a 'pattern' thing. I started with cacti because of the repetative pattern, then started experimenting with other ways of using patterns in my painting. I guess that explains the domain name, I just liked the symmetry... but you're right, it's hard to explain.. I just say "oh-low-low" if I've already explained how to spell it.
And the flash thing. I think it looks dull because I turn the alpha down on the thumbs, I was thinking I should change that. I actually built that for someone else that never used it. It's really easy to update because you just list the images, comments, and thumbs in an xml, and the script does the rest.... so, I was just being lazy and re-using stuff...

i'm really into the first series of canvas paintings...i do not think the childrens stuff deserves the same amount of attention...maybe present three or four of those at once...and move on.
looks good.
