if its work for hire I will charge for meeting times, otherwise I only ever charge clients by the original contract and bury the cost for these necessities in there.
The way I have always looked at it is that you are taking time out of your day to sit down and meet with them about the project; taking away from any creative time.

it always depends on the job and the client for me.
I mean as a network and pc consultant, i used to charge from the time i left my house until the time i got home, and that was common practice with my associates.
These days, it depends on the clients' budget and on the type of meeting. (If there's liquor involved or free food, why in the hell would i charge?)

I charge $35 per hour as long as the project is going to go over at least 2K. Otherwise I charge at least 2K.
