ugh.
double ugh.
Day 5 No Cigarettes. Stuck at work on the overnight shift. No projects to work on. Not feeling up to personal work ( since it's all i ever do on this shift) The weather is perfect. Could be out with one very hot redhead. Plus no cigarettes.

Reading back i realize i forgot to mention I'm not in interactive. I'm a lowly Broadcast animator for CNN International. I could run upstairs to domestic and drop kick the anchor or something though. !!

i've always meant to ask, and seeing as how you work at the mother of all news channels..do they get you designers there to create graphics and images for tons of shit that hasn't even happened yet?
like, to cover all contingencies?like, different things that may or may not happen in the upcoming war..type thing..
like, if something crazy were to happen, are their allready logos and animations?
always wondered about that..
you guys always seem to have graphics waaay ahead of time

Sure do.
I started the Strike on Iraq animations about a month and a half ago ( when it was still call war in Iraq. Changed for many reasons)We have to get ready for things like this WAAAAY in advanced. Presidents/world leaders dying, etc.
The trick is to build the animations so they're easy to update. so when you actually do get real deal footage/pictures you can replace the old footage.
Its definately a little weird though. I mean hell we have an end of the world animation.
eeeek. glad i didnt have to do that one . . . thats freakn creepy.

"SADDAM RESIGNS, SHAVES MUSTACHE AND MOVES TO GREECE"just imagine, sitting around, trying to second, third and fourth guess what might happen in a given day, news wise..
and then create graphics based on those hypothetical situations..
