err.,, there is this 3d dude coming over to our studio to do some fresh stuff.
now
i bought this pc (awful thingy) and need to know what OS is cool for 2 monitors (cards) and the newest lightwave.

We used to run a dual monitor setup on NT4 that workd OK. Except that NT4 is horrid. It should work on Win2K as well. Dunno about Lightwave, try looking at Newteks website.

win xp should be fine.

Win 2K or Win XP Professional (not the standard one).
At least 512 mb ram, but it should be more than a gig
You can get away with using a GeForce Ti or a Radeon 9700 Pro (or better), but the real 3D cards start with the ATI Fire series and the nVidia Quadro series and go on up to the Wildcats (big bucks). How important the graphics card is depends on what he'll be doing.
Also, if I were him, I'd want at the very least a 2 ghz Pentium, be preferably something much faster. Oh, and 21" monitors (I'd rather have one 21" than 2 17"s).
